The alternate maile/news pane configuration does not show any mail folders in
the Mail Folders pane, but the standard configuration seems to work fine.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.switch to alt-3pane configuration
2.close mail
3.restart mail

Actual Results:  Mail Folders pane is empty.

Expected Results:  Mail Folders pane shows the mail folders.

I normally use the alternate mail pane configuration:

I tend to hide the Mail Folders pane unless I need to move away from my Inbox,
which is not often.

A few weeks back I found that the Mail Folders pane was blank when I revealed
it, and was thus unable to get to any other folders. Today I encountered this
again (I have not had occasion to reveal the Mail Folders pane since then) and
have determined that while the alt-3pane configuration doesn't show the mail
folders, the standard set up, with the Mail Folders stretched all down the left
side appears to work fine. Hiding and revealing the Mail Folders list in this
configuration also seems to work fine.

So something seems to be very wrong with the alt-3pane configuration at the
moment...

There was a fix that went in recently about -turbo and 3-pane layout in
mail/news.   Might want to try the newest nightly to verify that this is still
broken.

The bahaviour still exists for me in the 2001062212 version.

And there are sometimes problems with the standard 3-pane Mail Folders list as
well, when I change it from hidden to visible I have occasionaly had the top few
items invisible (including the Inbox which I am usually looking at). But I can't
find any rhyme or reason for these (infrequent) occurences. The alt-3pane stuff
is always there (or not there, actually).

I have also seen problems with the folder pane going blank using the alt-3pane. 
Scrolling or collapsing and expanding the folder pane does not seem to repaint 
the folders, all the time. I have noticed that clicking on the up and down arrow 
keys in the scrollbar will often bring them back. 

I know this has already been logged so I'll look for a duplicate.

I used to see this on occation as well, but haven't since the new folder_outline
code went in on Aug. 15th. (Earlyer i sometimes noticed folders failing to
repaint, untill i resized the folderpane.)

Seems fixed to me (as 2001082421, anyway, might have landed earlier). I'm a
happy camper!

Verified on Win 2000, Linux, Mac OSX on the recent branch build 2001-09-27.
No need to verify on trunk.
