We should test this patch out in different locations in outdoor environments with certain geolocation use cases, including partner apps that make use of this. See https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/QA/Tips_And_Tricks#Changing_preferences as a reference on how to change the prefs to match what's shown in this patch.

Testing we're going to do here will focus on testing geolocation outside on an Inari build with these preferences flipped in this patch in different locations with some basic geolocation use cases on the web and in preinstalled apps. For those testing this, here's the template to follow: Location you tested this patch in: <name of location> Sanity Test Cases 1. Go to http://mozqa.com/data/firefox/geolocation/position.html in the browser outside. Verify you can get your location if you accept permissions. 2. Load the HERE Maps app on your device. When the geolocation prompt appears, accept permissions. Verify you can find your location on the device. 3. After you find your location in the HERE Maps once, change locations outdoors. Now, try to find your location in the HERE Maps app. Verify you can find your updated location on the device. 4. Install and launch the Accuweather app from marketplace. Select use current location. Verify Accuweather will successfully find your location. 5. Install and launch the Facebook app from marketplace. Login and select to checkin. Accept geolocation permissions. Verify your city shows up in the list of places to check in.

Tracy tried this out with the prefs set in his location: tracy jsmith: Iset the prefs and tried the HERE maps app. It wouldn't work unless I was connected to my wireless network. (because I don't have a data enabled sim) But the geolocation pinpoints my house accurately. Google maps on desktop doesn't even get this close when entering my exact address.

Used Ikura device with 1.0.1 I changed the prefs manually. 1. Using mozqa test: Location is correct. 2. Using HERE maps: location is correct. 3. Using HERE maps I walked around a was able to see dot on map moving with me.
Verified fixed on Inari Build ID: 20130513070209 Kernel Date: Feb 21 Gecko: http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-b2g18_v1_0_1/rev/6e1dbf036d34 Gaia: 54dfb62735c81152eef74eb1768e2bf621c0a258 Followed steps on comment 4 and was able to find geolocation on all applications. Website and AccuWeather took a couple tries but did work.

Jeni - Did you set preferences as shown in this patch when you tested? I can't tell by your comment.

(In reply to Jason Smith [:jsmith] from comment #8) > Jeni - Did you set preferences as shown in this patch when you tested? I > can't tell by your comment. Checked in IRC - the prefs were not set when the testing occurred here.

Using an Unagi device with 1.01 and changing the prefs manually, this works for me with a weak network connection using the mozqa.com test to find my location and the HERE maps test to find my location.

Website and Here.map was delayed but did work
