This patch causes a major performance loss, something is wrong with it. I hope to find a solution today, otherwise I will have to back it out (which will cause another bug to happen).

The patch is correct, unfortunately the problem was just hidden before. timezone/recurrence expansion is very slow, much slower than everything else. I'm investigating why.
