I can't reproduce this on -dev but I can on stage. But I think stage is rather messed up.
Same as Andy: can't reproduce on -dev whether authenticated or not.
This was a client-side issue (not in the API) that is confirmed fixed on -dev. https://github.com/mozilla/fireplace/commit/faedb78741ca75deea5674697e0303f019490c7a
