Steps to reproduce:
Installed Lightning 1.9.1 and Provider for Google 1.8 on Thunderbird 17.0.5 on my Ubuntu 12.03 system.
I followed the steps listed in https://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:GDATA_Provider
to setup my Google Calendar in Lightning.
After setting it up, I see all my events, but when I try to modify/create new events in Lightning in my google calendar, they dont sync with the Google Calendar. In short, its READ ONLY
Expected results:
Lightning should sync with Google Calendar

I realized what the problem was. I was trying to modify/delete events that were not created in Google Calendar. The events were created in Microsoft Exchange at my workplace, which was syncing with Google Calendar and in turn syncing with TB.
If I deleted such an event, then momentarily, it would sync with Google Calendar, but then Exchange would again sync with Google Calendar and the event would reappear.
This is not a bug and so I am closing it.
