When receiving a text from a number in my contact list, the notification system only shows the phone number and not the contact name.

Also, the name is overwritten with the phone number in the Messages app until it is killed and relaunched.

Have you tried v1-train?  That was where I saw the issue.  Maybe something just needs to be uplifted, etc.

I just tried again on my v1-train dogfood phone and the behavior seems worse now.

Version info:

  OTA update from unagi/1.1.0/beta
  gaia commit 4d10e1297b859cacc174c0a54af61a7678d7c32d

I sent a text to my wife and it properly showed up under her name.

Her response, however, used her phone number in the notification and Messages app.  What's more, since it didn't recognize it as her number it now is not in the same threaded conversation in Messages.

Previously, if I killed Messages and relaunched the number would then be recognized correctly.  That no longer works, though.

I believe all of this has been fixed with:

b2g18 latest
gaia/master 

(I recall experiencing the exact same issues, but cannot reproduce with "faked" numbers)

Ah, ok.  I have b2g18 latest, but not gaia/master.  I will have to check when I return.

What do you think the chances of uplifting this are?  Having the texts in different conversation threads in Messages is pretty bad UX for leo.

I believe Bug 876774 fixed this too.
