RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 861090

People

(Reporter: Conrad, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130511120803

Steps to reproduce:

Clicked on podcast site "Download" MP3 file link.

Actual results:

Firefox always plays MP3 file in what looks like a Firefox internal media player.

Expected results:

The "Always ask" dialog box should have appeared.
It's up to you to manage that in Options > Applications.

If the file is read, the server is bad configured and should disable read-only.

I'm saying the "Options > Applications" MP3 settings are disregarded, no setting there matters; the media ALWAYS plays in new page using media player I've never seen before which appears internal to Firefox.

The web site always worked correctly before Firefox 21.0 Update and still does today when tested with another PC with Firefox 19.0.2 Update.

Try to configure your server to reply to the client:
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=myfile.mp3;

I don't operate those web sites and asking end users such as myself to contact the thousands of affected web site operators is patently absurd.

Firefox 21.0 Update implemented a behavior change for the worse; please verify / confirm that issue as reported and triage it appropriately.
My website is hosted by 1&1, I have no idea as to how to configure their server.
Firefox 21 just ruined my work. There is no way to download a mp3 file.
How does it even manage to make a page that doesn't exist to embed a unknown media player in ?
