1. Open firefox browser.
2. Enter search criteria and hit Search button.



Actual results:

Issue: Nothing happens. It used to work on previous versions, after upgrade to v21.0, it has stopped functioning altogether.


Expected results:

As usual it should have shown searched string in the generic google format.

Hello, when you try to search in the about:home page are you in permanent private browsing mode? If you're not sure, just go to Options -> Privacy and check: if "never remember history" is selected, then you are in permanent private browsing mode. If not, do you have some kind of custom settings?

Also, is this bug reproducible in safe mode and with a clean profile? To enter safe mode go to Help -> Restart with Add-ons Disabled and then confirm when a dialog asking if you want to restart in safe mode pops up. To open Firefox with a clean profile, just press Start + R and type "firefox.exe -p" in the windows that appears, and then create a new profile and select it. More information here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Greetings,

1. Yes, it is in permanent private browsing mode.

2. It does not work in safe mode.

3. By creating a clean profile, it is working fine. But I don't want it to remember history but still do search on about:home page.

Hello, I was asking because we had a bug about this issue when in private browsing mode, but it seemed to have been fixed. Apparently not on Windows XP.
I'm reopening it and mark this as a duplicate of that one, because the issue is the same.

It's fixed in Firefox 22, not in Firefox 21.

The user needs to test the beta version to confirm it's fixed or not on Win XP.
