Details
New mail is not downloaded successfully after initial loading - see msg
"Receiving message n of n" for a second but no new mail appears in inbox or is
added to the inbox file. This is obviously a show-stopper, has been confirmed
by another user and may be old news. - Nicky Avery
Reporter, we need steps to confirm. What type of mail account POP or IMAP.
Is the profile you are using a newly created one? If so, did you create it
using Account settings or was it migrated? We do not see this here in our test
area, however there are bugs out there for confusion when users delete a mail
account then create it again with the same name in the same session. The can
cause some of the newly retrieve mail msgs to go into the newest account but
does not show up in the thread view because the older account is still being
display. We are working on that bug. Please give us more information so we can
reproduce this here. Thanks.

Do you have multiple accounts? If so, is this on an account other than the default?
What I see is Mozilla downloading messages, but failing to bold the folder name
and display the number of unread messages. This is an age-old problem. Clicking
on the folder solves it. Is that what you're seeing?

Didn't do that

After initially losing mail, I deleted and reinstalled Mozilla and
reproduced the same problem.
The person who responded to my request for info on the OS/2 hardware
forum told me he had also migrated from Netscape 4.61 and had seen the
same loss of incoming mail. If it's important to you, I can ask if he
uses a POP or IMAP server.

Updates:
The other guy has a POP server.
The VAC++ version from IBM did the same thing.
FYI my ISP uses IPAD.

Hmm.
I am not seeing this on my OS/2 build.
I am seeing a problem where mail is not checked automatically.
What is IPAD?
IPAD is a webserver suite but I learned he has just gone to FTGate Pro for
email server.
ver 0.9.3 update
EMX: Migration from NS 4.61 does not work properly. Folders arrive but empty
and I found no way to see the contents also spread between the main pop3 server
folder and Local Folders. New mail still does not arrive in the Inbox. Kris
Steenhaut (kris.steenhaut@hccnet.nl) confirms the same problem.
VACPP: Migration needed a little help (moves and reindexing) but worked, mail
arrives in Inbox but automatic collection may be a little erratic.

I am currently experiencing a similar problem with 0.9.4 (Build ID: 2001092020)
under Linux Mandrake 8.0. I have a customer who has been using Mozilla Mail
with POP via 28.8 dialup to ISP. For some time it worked fine. Then, all of a
sudden, new mail ceased appearing in the inbox. It seemed to download OK, but
then would not show up. We updated Mozilla Mail at the time and then the all
the unread mail appeared. Now the same problem has come back again. I updated
to the version referrenced above and that did not help. I am wondering if
Mozilla Mail is having a problem with the Inbox when it exceeds a certain size.
It is as if the messages are going in the Inbox OK, but Mozilla mail is having
a problem sorting the read messages from the unread messages once the Inbox
exceeds a certain size.

In regards to my above comment, my problem is resolved. I visited the
customer's location today and determined that the actual problem was a faulty
modem. With the modem replaced, Mozilla Mail is working fine again. Customer
had had the new mail problem with Mozilla Mail previously and assumed this was a
reoccurence of the same problem, but such was in fact not the case.

Marking these all WORKSFORME sorry about lack of response but were very
overloaded here. Only reopen the bug if you can reproduce with the following steps:
1) Download the latest nightly (or 0.9.6 which should be out RSN)
2) Create a new profile
3) test the bug again
If it still occurs go ahead and reopen the bug. Again sorry about no response
were quite overloaded here and understaffed.
