From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.1+) Gecko/20010625 BuildID: 2001062508 If you right click on a group with a large number of new messages, the act of selecting the group (by right clicking) will cause the dialog asking whether you want to download all headers, a number of hearders, etc., will pop up. But the right-click menu will also pop up, allowing you to unsubscribe from the group. If you then click "download" in the dialog, the headers will be downloaded into the now-unsubscribed group, and a crash ensues. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Subscribe to a large/active newsgroup with more than 300 new headers. 2. Right click on the group. Both the context menu and the dialog should appear. Do not click on anything else yet. 3. Unsubscribe from the group via the context menu. The group will be removed from the list, but the download dialog will remain visible and active. 4. Click "download" in the dialog. 5. Merrily fill out a talkback form :) Actual Results: Mozilla attempts to download headers into the unsubscribed group and dies. Expected Results: Either a) the download dialog does not appear when you right click, or b) an error is given saying "You idiot, you can't get headers into an unsubscribed group! Click ok to cancel or ignore to crash." This bug is an updated description of 87553. Talkback report: TB32158448M

Confirming, I see the same behavior with build 2001-06-25-06 on RedHat 7.1

adding crash keyword.
Keywords: crash
This didn't affect me on the same setup if I unsubscribe and try to read the headers from a group which I've already built an .MSF for, so that should give us a good clue.
URL: news://anything
Summary: Crash - right click allows downloading headers to unsubscribed group → Downloading headers immediately after unsubscribing from the group causes crash.

I found this to be very hard to reproduce, because the contextmenu to unsubscribe often immediately disappeared when I clicked on a group (before the Download Headers dialog appeared). Furthermore, when I finally managed to do it - I didn't crash. I just encountered a bunch of assertions telling me that a msgHdr was null (duh! we just unsubscribed from the group)... Summarizing my comment, this crash is minor compared to other crashers we have. Adjusting severity.

Funny, I can get the menu to stay up nearly everytime, and when I am successful, it crashes without fail.
hwaara, this crashed for me 100%, also, you have to realize the sometimes opt and debug builds differ (several times debug crashes where opt don't and vice-versa). So this really only counts if the opt user sees it, which they do.

Still can't repro with an opt-build. Guess that means that I can't help, but maybe someone else can. :)
