Details

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0

1. Launch Firefox with a profile with: yahoo toolbar save Yahoo as startup page and default search engine), a Master Password, navigate to some websites, create bookmarks, save the password for any website.
2. Create an operating system restore point.
3. Update the OS.
4. Uninstall Firefox.
5. Restore the operating system to the point created at 2.
6. Launch Firefox* with the profile from step 2.
*If Firefox doesn't get restored, install it first.

Actual results:
At step 6: Not all the actions performed at step 1 are saved (yahoo toolbar is deleted, althought Yahoo is saved as startup page; passwords not saved; no search engines in the search bar; master password not saved; empty bookmarks; Yahoo is the only entry in History).

Expected results:
At step 6: All the actions performed at step 1 are saved.

Notes:
1. Reproducible with FF 21.0 (Build ID: 20130512144307).
2. With latest Nightly (Build ID: 20130528030942) on Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x32, when FF is launched (step 6), I get a pop-up window with "Couldn't load XPCOM" message.
Also reproducible with FF 22 beta 3 (Build ID: 20130528181031).
I've investigated this issue with releases builds and the results are:
- from FF 4.0 to FF 9.0, after Restore Point is called, the builds are crashing on startup. The crash report is identical with the one from bug 877168 : https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/1a28ca88-88a9-4fbf-9a26-0ca522130530
- with FF 10.0 I get the same actual results as in comment 0, so it's not a regression.
Blocks: 702045
Still happening on Windows 7 x64 too using latest nightly 25 and FF 23.b4
Severity: normal → S3
