(Whiteboard: dupeme?)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130512193848

Steps to reproduce:

When using flash from liveleak.com, the mouse cursor will continually disappear.
Component: Untriaged → Plug-ins
Product: Firefox → Core
Can you provide a specific URL where this happens?
Is this happening only for fullscreen videos or all?
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=04a_1370304152
happens for all
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
Is this happening with other browsers as well (Chromium, Opera)?
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
It does not happen in chrome, so it seems to be only in firefox.

Chrome has a custom Flash version, could you check with another browser (Chromium, Opera)?
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
sorry, that was chromium, not chrome.

It would be great to know if this only started to happen in more recent Firefox versions.
If it was only introduced in newer versions, we have a tool to narrow down what change caused this [1].

This is repro on FF 9 on Win 7.
Unable to test on lower versions, the video won't play on FF 4 - 8.

Are there plans to fix this?
This bug is not really critical, so it will be looked into when someone has time for it.

Taking a glance at this now, i see the mouse cursor being hidden after a short timeout only when the last mouse-move started or ended inside/over the Flash element - which seems intentional, as it's not happening when the video is paused.
Is that what you're seeing on Linux too or is there something more disruptive going on?

For me, it can hide the mouse while it is over ui elements like tabs, causing annoyance if I want to click on a different tab.
Is this with the last mouse-move having started outside or inside the plugin element?
If it started inside, that's apparently how this video player works.
If not, we can check that the proper events are getting sent to the Flash player from our side, but chances are that this is a Flash issue and should be reported with Adobe.

There have been multiple reports about a cursor disappearing with Flash.

outside. I can start moving the mouse outside the flash and it will stay disappeared. You can easily just go to the url i posted to see that for yourself.

I've seen this on Air Mozilla on Linux in Nightly recently too.
"DUPEME?" doesn't mean anything bad.

I've seen this intermittently but not been able to reproduce it today. There are a few duplicate bugs reporting the issue. It will help to have a url and to know a version of Flash where it's reproducible. Looking over past reports, it seems that they've been marked as trivial or enhancements (though I wouldn't agree, since when it happens, it breaks functionality including the ability to switch tabs) In other duplicate reports, the issue has resolved with Flash updates or appears to have gone away for unknown reasons.

For fullscreen videos the duplicate is bug 717340.
For not-fullscreen there are several bugs including bug 639237.

For now, I'm duping this bug. If we see it come back consistently at least there will be more clear signs pointing to a single bug instead of many scattered reports.

That bug is for windows 7 for flash in general, but this only happens on linux, and only on certain sites such as the one I listed (ie never happens on youtube). It is reproducible on several linux platforms, for like the past 10 firefox versions. That bug is not related I think due to the several differences.

    File: libflashplayer.so
    Path: /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so
    Version: 11.2.202.346
    State: Enabled
    Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202

I also believe it is duplicate of bug 639237

BTW, latest linux flash version is 11.2.202.350
It can't be a dupe of that bug, this only happens on certain websites, and it doesn't flicker at all, it just completely goes until you move it fast enough to make it appear again.
For me issue reproducible for any embedded video from youtube only during playing.
1. Cursor inside flash frame
2. Cursor moved outside video frame and when disappears UNTIL invisible cursor moved over page elements when cursor shape should be changed from 'Arrow' to 'Pointer' or 'Text Selection' type (for example over text, links, inputs).

Ubuntu 14.04, Unity Desktop, Firefox 36, Flash Player 1.2.202.442
links: facebook.com - any embedded youtube video.
Resolving as wont fix, plugin support deprecated in Firefox 85.
