A gray area about 1" square appears at the upper left hand corner of my screen when I exit preferences - and I can't get rid of it unless I sign out of Firefox - thus loosing all my info saved while using private browsing.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130511120803 Steps to reproduce: I opened the preferences. Then I closed it. That's when the unmoveable grey box about 1" square appears in the upper left of my screen. Nothing gets rid of it except restarting firefox. Actual results: Nothing moves this gray box. There are no red, yellow and green circles at the top of the square. Expected results: I should have been able to sign out of preferences and just have it dissapear.

Thanks for reporting this. Do you have this problem every time you open and close the preferences? Have you tired in Safe Mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Basic+Troubleshooting#w_3-restart-firefox-in-safe-mode )

Email from the reporter: "It does happen every time I open & then try to close preferences. The preferences window does not have the red, yellow and green buttons on the upper left. I have to close it with either the cancel or ok buttons at the bottom right of the window. I have not tried trying to solve this with the safe mode startup. My Extentions: Adblock Plus 2.2.4 Add to Amazon Wish List Button 1.10 Advertising Cookie Opt-out 1.5 Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on 0.9.6 Htttps-Everywhere 3.2.2 Truste Privacy Plugin 2.0 My Plug-ins: Flip4Mac Windows Media Plugin 2.5.0.1 QuickTime Plug-in 7.7.1 Shockwave Flash 11.7.700.203 I use FireFox 21.0 in the private browsing mode with 3rd party cookies disabled. What should I do next to see what the problem is with this gray square?" As in comment 1 try in safe mode

Please reopen if you consider this different from bug 641288; its duplicates seem similar.
