if i want to file a bug on bugzilla, the logon page appears. this form is prefilled with my stored username/password. so far so good. but my little brain allways forgets this nice feature. and so i see the page appearing with empty fields. have a second later i begin typing my username... then the prefilled text appears, with my new chars appended. i wonder wheter it would be possible (regarding the time to show the page) to fill the page before presenting. this would be the nicest resolution. :-) we could also make the fields readonly till they're filled, or not accepting the input... not very nice :-(

I don't think you really want to do this. It would give the user the perception of the page being slow to load (which of course is true). By displaying the page without the prefills as soon as that's ready, we are giving the perception of being faster to load. The problem is not one of when we display the page, but rather one of performance in speeding up the page load.

Why is it not possible for the form fields to have the login data filled in as soon as they're rendered? Why is it only filled in after the entire page has loaded?

I can't answer that question. You'll have to ask some layout people.

Um, why is this bug RESOLVED/WONTFIX when there is still a pending question on it from Alex ? I've voted for this bug, I constantly make this mistake !

This bug was actually marked RESOLVED WONTFIX before I asked my question. As Morse suggests that the solution lies with the page rendering, I'm reopening and reassigning to HTML Form Controls.

It looks like this bug is a duplicate of bug 58724, which I just stumbled across. Can't believe this was missed for so long. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 58724 ***
