found using 2001.06.26.0x branch comm bits [prolly in the trunk as well] on the
three main platforms.
sometimes when i'm searching for text in a web page, the Find in Page dialog
obscures the text found. [also see this with a web page loaded in composer.]
4.x handled this differently among the different platforms:
win32: page was scrolled such that the found text would no longer be behind the
Find dialog. eg, the page would be scrolled a bit, so that the found
[highlighted] text would appear below the dialog.
mac: the Find dialog was dismissed [went away] when the text was found.
linux: 4.x behavior the same as 6.x/moz behavior.
my preference would be to have all platforms behave similarly to win32/4.x.
current workaround: move/drag the dialog out the way.

This is not an enhancement request. The find function is almost useless unless
users can see WHERE the string has been found.
Test case: http://werbach.com/barebones/barebones.html
Find "location", tick "wrap-around". Keep pressing find button. After a few
times (I think it's after it wraps around) scrolling stops working.

Opened bug 159402. This is related but not a duplicate, since it deals with
situations in which the page cannot be scrolled.

As of the latest builds, the find in this page dialog box has been removed completely. We now have a "find bar" at the top of the page. I don't know what bug introduced this new feature, but the problem here no longer exists.
