The schreenshots shown on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/ are very, very, very old and should be updated.
As a user I'd expect to get a demonstration of how the extension looks like and maybe some of the features it offers. The screenshot shows how Lightning looked in 2008 and is far from what the user will see today.

I have taken 3 new pictures of lightning that can be seen at the following links:
Weekly View - http://goo.gl/cqDNZ5
Monthly View - http://goo.gl/vRy7ey
Task View - http://goo.gl/7PDW4b
tar and gzipped - http://goo.gl/CJvuiD
Hope that helps

tar and gzipped images
Hi Andrew, sorry for the insanely long review time, I promise to be much faster next time! I've taken a look at the images. I hope you still have the calendar data for those events. A few things:
* Is this the default theme in Linux? I wonder why we have that ugly white bar near the title bar.
* The screens look nice, but the resolution is very high, which will make it harder to read on small screens. Could you make the windows just big enough that you don't lose too much information in the views? My resolution on a 13" MBP is 1280x800, and AMO shows the screenshot with a margin.
* Can you expand the tomorrow/soon sections in the today pane in the tasks view and make sure it has event data?
I hope you are still interested in updating these and would appreciate a new version. Next time feel free to attach each image separately on the bug, this makes review much easier.

I know it's been two years but could anyone confirm if this bug is still assigned or has been completed? If it isn't I wouldn't mind taking it.

Sure thing, I'm assuming Andrew wasn't too happy about me taking so long for the review. What OS will you be using for the screenshots?

I dualboot in between Xubuntu and Windows 8.1 and will use photoshop to set size at 1280x800.
I can use Windows 10 too if you think the screens need to keep up with the times.
I just ran a test batch so that you can tell me what you think. I did these on Win 8.1, if you don't dig the yellow bar I can change the color, I can also try on Xubuntu to see how it looks.
There are three screenshots; "month view", "week view", and "Add new Event view" respectively: http://imgur.com/a/wn0N0

Resolving as WONTFIX as Lightning is now part of Thunderbird.
