I suspect this is a windows-only problem and reflects similar issues I see in the browser itself when e10s is enabled. See following attachments.

Note how there is alot of whitespace in this capture - I'd expect the Google logo and search box to take up a larger proportion of the image. Also note the position of the "Sign in" button - no matter how I size the real page in the browser I can't make that signin button appear over the Google logo.

In this capture the scaling seems correct but we are missing the right and bottom of the page.

hrmph - I think the real thumbnail service must have overwritten the ones I was trying to upload - the existing one doesn't show the problem I described, but *does* seem to have lost the right-hand side of the page. This one shows the strange scaling and position of the "Sign in" button I mentioned before.

Bug 870105 landed late yesterday and changed how the browser is sized. Maybe that fixed or at least changed things?

FTR, I have the exact same issue with but the current capture code and the background code. It's quite inconsistent - eg, I have some captures of wiki.mozilla.org where the right-hand side of the page is clipped, but some where it is captured fine.

Might be a timing issue related to when during the layout we do the capture?

According to bug 870105 the thumbnail service uses the display screen size for the thumbnails, which looks strange on a 24" or 27" desktop LCD, especially when Firefox is actually used in a much smaller windowed size. Can the service browser be made smaller to match the other non-background-generated thumbnails?

(In reply to Thomas Stache from comment #7) > According to bug 870105 the thumbnail service uses the display screen size > for the thumbnails, which looks strange on a 24" or 27" desktop LCD That sounds different from what Mark's reporting, so I filed bug 908060 for it.
