Description: "2G EDGE" overlaps a portion of the sentence in Cellular & Data. Repro Steps: 1) Updated to Unagi Build ID: 20130606070207 2) Set device language to Dutch (NL) 3) Go to Settings then Cellular & Data Actual: The words "2G EDGE" overlap bottom portion of sentence above. Expected: User should be able to read all text clearly. Environmental Variables Gecko: http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-b2g18/rev/eff45c60396e Gaia: 337674ef250cc8a05358b873b0fdbb2e73b49224 Platform Version: 18.0 Notes: Repro frequency: 100%
This is a localibility bug. It'd be less apparent if the strings in dutch could use less words, though. Ton?
(In reply to Axel Hecht [:Pike] from comment #1) > This is a localibility bug. > I’m not really sure about that, is it? Some facts: - The 2G EDGE text appears to be hardcoded. - I don’t see this happen in the stand-alone emulator (I.e., I see all but 2G EDGE, and those (5) lines for Dutch fit) - I cannot use Dutch in a real device yet, so cannot test there - On a Keon using 1.0.1.0-prerelease / gaia-v1_0_1, German is included (while Dutch isn’t). The German text is even longer than the Dutch text (6 lines in emulator, 5 in Keon). I don’t see the problem there either. Questions: - What about the German locale in your tested version? - Should I put a SIM card in the device in order to enable either 2G/3G and display the 2G/3G EDGE text? (In that case, I can’t test nl either, but would expect to see the problem for German.) - Could this be Unagi related? - May this have been fixed in the ‘normal’ gaia tree? Sidenote: The "Turn ON data connection?" text appears to start with some tab space (i.e. not at the left side of the screen, in any language). Could this be related?
FWIW, I can't reproduce this screen, on a 20130603 1.1 unagi build. In neither dutch nor german. Sarah, I wonder if there's something special about your data connection that triggers different behaviour. to clarify, I meant to say localizability, i.e., the core code does something that's not working great with localized UI.
