Filing this bug to track the ongoing work of updating the Firefox logo on the One Mozilla style guide. Due date: July 5.

Matej & Sean put this together as a starting point: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/styleguidelogoupdates. They're also available if you need any new copy or graphics as part of the process.

Thank you!

We can handle all of the images updates on the mozilla.org/styleguide pages, but we don't have access (or all of the necessary files) to update the downloadable assets on https://assets.mozillalabs.com/.

Sean, is this something you can handle? We'll have to co-ordinate the updates so they coincide with the /styleguide page updates.
Hi Steven,

Hopefully the etherpad is pretty straightforward, but let me know if you have any questions. There are a couple of things, like the updates to the Firefox branding page, that you'll need from us, but please flag anything I may have missed.

On the Firefox Browser channels page, do you need a new version with the Beta sash from Sean?

I'm not 100% sure what to do with all the affected screenshots. I think we should definitely change the ones that are part of mozilla.org (home page, Firefox for Android page, Den blog), but what should we do about the community sites?

Flagging Sean here for the above questions as well as those in comment 1.

One more thing: Are non-logo-related updates to the Style Guide beyond the scope of this bug? I ask specifically because of the social assets we want to add to the Firefox OS community page.

If we can do that as part of this as well, I'll add Ty to the bug to create those.

Steven, please advise. Thanks.
Update: I realized I missed the phone screens on the FxOS partner page and all the assets on the community page in my first pass. I've added those to the etherpad now.

If we're making updates to the community page anyway, let's add the social assets. Ty says he's already created most of them. He mostly just has to update them with the new logo and finish a couple of outstanding ones. Adding him here for those.
Hi Steven, just wanted to check in and see how this is coming. I know Sean and I owe you an updated Firefox branding page. Is it OK if we get that to you next week?

Is there anything else you need from us at this point?

I'm sure Sean will be able to help with uploading the assets, but I'll make sure he comments here if there are any issues with that.

Thanks.

We're in good shape. This will be ready by early next week.

We do still need the favicon-styled version of the icon from shorlander. He said he'd have that to us this week.

Yes, we don't have access to the assets.mozillalabs.com site to update the downloadable assets. Sean has said that he'll be handling this. It would help for us to have all of these assets in the mean time though - we're faking some of the images for the ESR/partners wordmarks etc. for now.

Priority: -- → P3
Steven - thanks for all your help with this so far. Hugely appreciated!

Sean - please do make sure to address Steven's needs re: the assets site as soon as you can.

Sancus - what does P3 mean in this context? This is related to the FxOS launch, so that doesn't feel accurate to me, although maybe I'm misunderstanding.

We set priorities and kanban numbers when we triage bugs into a card on Kanbanery. Given the work's already in progress I just set it to our standard P3 to get it out of the 'needs triage' custom search. Doesn't really have any impact on when it will be done since it's already being worked on, thus it was, in fact, past the prioritization stage already before I made a card for it. But I'll set to P2 anyway, since that's what most fxOS tasks seem to be :)

Hey shorlander, is this coming from you, or is there someone else we should ask? Thanks.

Here is an actual favicon. Do you need the individual smaller PNGs also?

Almost done!

The style guide has been updated with the new logo and is browseable on:
https://www-demo2.allizom.org/en-US/styleguide/ (ping if you need login info)

Remaining exceptions:

https://www-demo2.allizom.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefoxos/community/
Rather than hacking the new logo into all of these preview images, it probably makes more sense to wait for the originals to be updated and re-created them from there.

Same as above - waiting on the updated originals

https://www-demo2.allizom.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefox-family/overview/
Should the "Firefox OS" wordmark here get the real logo rather than the silhouette?
Matej, when you're back from PTO can you update the descriptive copy in the "What to look for section" of https://www-demo2.allizom.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefox/branding/? There are some outdated descriptors there.

Thanks!

Actually, sounds like Sean is going to take this one. Sean...it's all yours. Please post new copy in the bug when you can.
Another quick status update:

At smartell's request, links to assets with "RGB-CS4" in the file names have been changed to "CMYK". Sean will update the actual file names accordingly. Here's a list of the links that were changed: https://gist.github.com/sgarrity/5823765

The only remaining issues are pending updates from smartell:

Waiting on assets from smartell for these two pages:
https://www-demo2.allizom.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefoxos/community/
https://www-demo2.allizom.org/en-US/styleguide/communications/video/

and the text change for the "What to look for section" in comment #14.
All the graphics in here:http://cl.ly/1P1g0T0m441a

TEXT:

TOP - The new globe has high gloss removed, softer deeper gradients for better contrast, and new higher detail continents.

LOWER LEFT - The fox fur is now a softer gradient orange and has much less detail (he also has a proper shoulder).

RIGHT - The tail still wraps around the globe which peeks through in some places, but there is much less detail and more high contrast yellow/white flames.

A few small edits to the copy:

TOP — The new globe has high gloss removed, softer deeper gradients for better contrast and new higher detail continents.

LOWER LEFT — The fox fur is now a softer gradient orange and has much less detail (he also has a proper shoulder).

RIGHT — The tail still wraps around the globe, which peeks through in some places, but there is much less detail and there are more high contrast yellow/white flames.
These changes have been made and there is now a pull request for this in the bedrock-private repo: https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock-private/pull/9

Is anyone updating these assets?

On the Community page, we also wanted to create social assets (avatars, Twitter header, Facebook cover, etc.). Is that still happening?
Matej, thanks for flagging those issues in comment #20. Here's what I know:

Ty has a solution for this, but it won't be ready until the end of next week. I'm ok with launching the new site without these elements, and then updating later. (We'll likely have a few other style guide updates as the FxOS details get sorted out, so this can be in the next batch.)

> Same as above - waiting on the updated originals

Sean told me over IM that Steven has the assets he needs to update this. Steven, does that sound right to you?

Also, we do have some social assets, courtesy of Lee, but am not sure about adding them to the Community page. That page is essentially all about the blueprint graphics, and the social ones are in the unleashed style. Definitely a mixed message. What do you think? (Matej, feel free to ping me so we don't overwhelm this bug with the discussion.)

Lastly, we're working on new presos too...when those are ready we'll need to add them to the assets repo and possibly update http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/communications/presentations/ to reflect an increased set of options.

Thanks all!
Just chatted with John about the social assets and I think we're on the same page now. I'll touch base with Ty next week to get us what we need.
When do these changes go live?
(In reply to John Slater from comment #24)
> When do these changes go live?

Egad! The changes are in production, but the URL vars we were appending to image requests to make sure the CDN gets the new images weren't applied to the style guide.

Will work on that now.
Pull request to cache-bust all of the images in the style guide. We've got to get a robot doing this.

I noticed that it's updated in some places but not in others. Just want to check if this is still in progress before raising any flags.

Yes, the fix is still waiting on code review, but we expect to have it in production later today. I'll update accordingly. Thanks.

Cache-bust images in style guide (Bug 881125)
I'm seeing the new logo everywhere except on this page under "Usage:"

I'm not seeing any here. Raymond, can you confirm? If you look at the source, you should see a ?2013-06 appended to the end of the image URL to force an un-cached version.

These were missed in the search and replace due to a bungled merge conflict. Fixed in this PR: https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/pull/1026
