User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.19) Gecko/20110420 SeaMonkey/2.0.14 (Nightly/Aurora)
Build ID: 20110420224852
Steps to reproduce:
OK I am a Luddite, I admit it. My wife and I have used Netscape and SeaMonkey for almost 2 decades. Three weeks ago SeaMonkey stopped sending e-mail on our Macs:
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.19) Gecko/20110420 SeaMonkey/2.0.14. Every time we try we get a fail message.
Actual results:
Window opens and scrolls until you click cancel. No outgoing. Called Verizon (and possibly the NSA) and established that the smtp address and port were correct. Went to the Verizon home page and sent myself an e-mail to the SeaMonkey client. Worked fine.
Expected results:
For many, many years, we just clicked and off went out messages to the intended recipient. We have stayed with SeaMonkey because we can access 15-20 years worth of e-mails (for my wife and her genealogy this has been a big plus). Anything we can do?
> we get a fail message
And just what is that message?
Does SeaMonkey provide additional details on a failed send?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cannot_send_mail
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Connection_errors_-_SMTP
The message says to check the settings, which I did with Verizon and they verified that the address and port were correct.
A bit old version, try if problem exists in actual from http://code.google.com/p/seamonkey-ppc/

If you can receive but not send, the first thing is to check your anti-virus and/or firewall. Many of these come with email filtering. Make sure that nothing is blocking outgoing email.
