Most app submissions now are not build specifically for Firefox OS but for devices that have a back button. Review rejects those apps often for not providing navigational elements and the possibility of getting the user stuck in some dead end. See bug 856567 for an example, in this case Facebook.

This affects most of our premium partner apps. Most apps that don't provide their own back button don't get rejected unless the user can get stuck, but it gets mentioned in the review feedback.

Some input from various source on possible solutions:

1) iOS 7 added a off-screen-to-right swipe for back navigation. FxOS is already utilizing a off-screen-down swipe for the notification bar. This system-wide behavior could be limited to apps that are not full-screen, or could be disabled in the webapp manifest.

2) Let developers enable navigation elements similar to fullscreen browser in the webapp manifest. This is the e.me app experience and was already suggested by Jonas to solve Facebook's navigation issues [1]
