That has nothing to do with this bug.

I have tested it in both those modes. It does not happen in a new profile, but does happen in safe mode.
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
So add-on issue or bad pref.

It is still a bug in firefox, as I do not have it set to do that.

Ok, so it works with a new prowile but not with your current one in safe mode. Just try to remove cookies and browser cache. If that fails, reset it.

Honestly, if it works with a new profile and nobody is able to reproduce it, it's hard to fix something, especially if the issue is about your current profile.

If resetting is the only solution, then what is stopping this from happening again? Shouldn't mozilla actually fix the bug rather than requiring constant profile resets?

Nope, because it's too much work and not really reproducible without your profile. It could be various reasons: bad prefs, corrupt cache, cookies blocked, bad add-on etc.
If resetting the profile or creating a new one works, it's enough.

Stop using Linux, seriously.
ill,
* maybe you've enabled something like Private Browsing mode (or an add-on setting with a similar effect);
* maybe the page doesn't want you to save passwords; it is easy for it to disable that.
Or maybe the page is a little unusual, so the password manager cannot find the right fields. See this post by Justin Dolske: https://blog.mozilla.org/dolske/2013/08/20/on-firefoxs-password-manager/
Works for me with

Do you see questions above? If you are not providing needed information, bug is closed as not reproducible
