Bug to track the localization of the Firefox OS launch pages on mozilla.org in Polish.
Assignee: nobody → sprussak
Here are the details for this bug: The staging server for this page is at this location: https://www-demo2.allizom.org/b/pl/firefox/os/ This is behind an authentification dialog box, here are the credentials: demo2_user 4nMM2DroF3mRWaAm The file is now in your svn repository there: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/locales/pl/firefox/os/index.lang We will launch the Firefox OS consumer page (this page) on July 1st, ideally we would need the translation to be done a few days before for QA. The visual design is still in heavy works, therefore you may see bugs but the strings should be pretty much final. If necessary, just as we did for the MWC site, you can CC a couple more localizers to this bug to help you translate/QA the project. Since there will be partners announced via logos on this page, please share this data with caution :) The page is very dynamic with many animations, you may have to scroll up and down to see all the strings in context. Thanks!
I've committed the translation in r117146. Let us just check what it looks like on the staging server.
After some twitches in r117147, the translation looks okay to me, except for two details. 1. At one place, the name "Firefox OS" is split into two lines. Since the site is supposed to be reworked, this problem may also appear in other places. Is using the   HTML tag going to work in a *.lang file to indicate a non-breaking space? 2. The screenshots are all in English - I just want to make sure this is one of the design elements that is going to change before the site goes live on July 1st :)

I would also remove the dots at the end of the paragraphs. They don't look good in Polish.
Matej - any thoughts on comment #5?
Flags: needinfo?(Mnovak)
(In reply to Bartosz Piec from comment #5) > I would also remove the dots at the end of the paragraphs. They don't look > good in Polish. What dots are you referring to? I'm not sure where I should be looking.
Flags: needinfo?(Mnovak)
I'm referring to these dots (and in other paragraphs).
(In reply to Bartosz Piec from comment #8) > Created attachment 766815 [details] > Dots at the end of paragraphs > > I'm referring to these dots (and in other paragraphs). Thanks. Is that what we usually do in Polish? I think it would be odd in that first example since the paragraph has three sentences and only the last one wouldn't have the period. Is it actually wrong in Polish to have periods at the end of paragraphs? Or is it just a matter of style? If the latter, I would prefer to keep them.
I agree that removing final periods of the paragraphs where there are multiple sentences seems weird. I added non-breaking spaces in r117165
Sara, you have 2 more strings in this file to translate. There are also 2 strings in tabzilla.lang that need to be done for Monday as it will be the promo linking to the Firefox OS site. (generally speaking, there are like 20 untranslated strings on your web dashboard and it would be good to have them translates ;) )
I've committed translation of this file as well as tabzilla.lang. The rest is going to be done ASAP as well.
And the translation was committed in r117283
Thanks Sara! Keep an eye on the web dashboard, there will probably be a couple of strings popping up tomorrow :)
Tomorrow I will be AFK for the entire day. I hope it's okay if the strings would be committed on Friday.
Yes, that's no problem
Thanks for all the work Sara, we are now live, enjoy :)
