build 1999062408-profile manager window starts to draw...then application
crashes, no profile - even default- gets created. Mozregistry is created. 2nd
launch with mozregistry present crashes too.

This seems to be coming from the layout problems. Marking this as dup of Bug
8758.

8758 looks more like mail/news problem. Taking back the dup assignment.
Nothing related to Profile Manager has changed lately to cause this problem.
Reassigning this component layout ([e-mail]). It could be forms too.

Mail/news isn't layout, and I see nothing here that indicates that this is a
layout problem (what does layout have to do with the profile manager?)

Why is this invalid?
Both builds on 19990624 do not launch, both crash after profile manager
window starts to draw.
mozregistry is deleted before launch, is created during time for window to draw,
no profile is created, crash

It's INVALID because it has nothing what so ever to do with layout. Why do you
think the profile manager is layout?

Bug needs to be reassigned-not sure where it is crashing

Profile Manager is not being created, no prefs50.js file exists at point of
crash

build 1999062508 still crashing
people who have retained profiles or at least do not have to go through Profile
Manager do not see this problem.

Changing component back to profile manager-
reinstalled older version and set up profile,
when I installed build 1990625 I was able to launch.
if no profile exists, apprunner is not able to process throught the profile
manager code, create a profile and launch
