the New Type dialog for creating a new helper app should really have "save to
disk" available as an option. at present you need to first create, then re-edit
it via the Edit Type dialog. going back and forth doesn't seem to make sense. :)

i thought bug 80557 would cover this, but i think i was mistaken there. i also
thought a bug for this would've been filed long ago, but my query fu ain't
finding it at the moment...
true, there's a "save to disk" option in the helper app dialog itself... but
methinks that if a user wants to define a new helper app to save to disk, they
ought to have that choice in the New Type dialog itself. [whether from the
"Advanced" button in the helper app dialog, or from "New Type" in the helper app
preferences panel.]

I know it's a "save to disk" in a different option, but i think this is too
specific and maybe the other bug should be a little more general then get this
one duped
I'm glad to see this covered in a specific bug; it's been mentioned in passing
in a number of other bugs over the months, but the other bugs always end up
getting closed or duped and since this isn't the main issue, it keeps getting
overlooked.

Now once this is (finally) fixed, could someone put a "rightclick: what is
this" or tooltip for *every* item in the "New Type" dialogue? e.g. What the
§#@## is a MIME type, and what does it do?
</OT>
right click what's this is rather annoying. a what's this widget and a help
button are prefered imo. However that belongs as a seperate bug; Ian: do we
have a bug for that?

What's the status of this bug? It's still very hard to add a new helper type
since save to disk isn't there in the first dialog and "always ask" is still
always greyed out when you re-edit. Is there any hope of a fix?

spam: over to File Handling. i have not changed the assigned developer [or the
other fields for that matter], so if anyone realizes that a bug should have a
more appropriate owner, go ahead and change it. :)

make your case by stating which of my mozilla0.9.9 or mozilla1.0 bugs you think

Please note that *some* of these might be fixed elsewhere if there is work
being done in the same area of code. In most of those cases, I will have
marked such bugs by putting the *real* bug in the "depends on" field.
