Update mozilla.org homepage banner to include Maker Party slide.
Attached file banner resources
Hi Jennifer! Here are the graphic assets for the Maker Part banner. I've included the background and button as separate files, as well as the original comp for layout reference. The text is as follows: ----- Did you know? From June 15 - September 15, thousands of Mozillians worldwide are throwing parties to make and share amazing projects. ----- Thanks very much! Let me know if you have any questions. -Chris
Hi Chris, Thanks for submitting this bug. I had one question: What is the deadline for the design? I will get back to you once the project been assigned to let you know if we need any other information. Cheers, Jennifer
Hi Jen! The design should be done, though if you need Chris to make any tweaks let us know. The slide should go up soon, as the event has already started. But definitely no later than July 1. Thanks! Erica
Chris - what is the font for the text? Erica - I'm guessing the text might be a little long. Craig - could you please take a look at the attached assets?
Thanks Chris. The design looks nice on its own, but my concern is that the colors & styles don't feel particularly integrated with the rest of the page it's on. I think it's fine to stand out to some degree, but how can we modify it to feel more consistent with the general Mozilla style?
Thanks John. I'll do some more thinking about how it might integrate better, and attach to the bug. Also, if you have any general guidelines or tips for the banners, that would be great.
Cool, thanks Chris. This isn't something we've defined all that closely, so we'll have to figure out the right balance together. As a starting point, we do have this color palette - http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/mozilla/color/ - but I think sticking strictly to it would be a little limiting for what you're trying to do. Generally speaking, I'd say that the sweet spot is a graphic that feels like it's well-integrated with the rest of the page in terms of basic visual style (fonts, colors that don't clash, etc) but also stands out enough to be recognized as its own unique thing. My concern about the earlier promo was that it leaned too far in the 'standing out' direction...would be great to continue tweaking so we can find that sweet spot. Thanks!
can we please remove the t-shirt banner now while we figure out design? my request to remove it is seems ancient, and out of place with what we are advocating on other parts of the Project (stopwatching us, 3rd party cookies, Firefox OS.) agree too that the design of this maker party should align with the Mozilla color palette, and employ some of the graphic elements from the webmaker code party page. suggest white rectangle with hex shaped "maker party" graphic along with copy from current banner. thanks
Pete - I'll open a separate bug to remove the t-shirt/donate banner.

Hey all, How about something like this? In terms of integrating with the rest of the page, what seemed to work well was: • strong focal element set against solid, coloured, subtly textured background • strong use of headline, brief text and clear call to action I've also tried to incorporate more photography that suggests these are real world events happening with a diverse community of people -- rather than a purely brand-driven approach like the previous one. Let me know what you guys think, and if this feels more appropriate for the homepage. Thanks!

Also, plus this, which makes the brand secondary to the headline, which feels a bit better for this space.
Thanks Chris. These are definitely better - I have a slight preference for version 2.0, but don't have strong feelings about one over the other. The background color feels pretty neon to me, which isn't a color direction we usually go in. Is that part of the Maker Party identity?

Thanks John. I've tried a more desaturated colour for the background, and think this works better. What do you think?
Looks good, thanks Chris!
Good stuff, thanks John! Here's the .psd. Let me know if you need anything else.
I'm going to switch components on this bug to make it a mozilla.org bug rather than a design bug. Thanks everyone.

What URL should this promo link to? I'm guessing it's https://webmaker.org/party/ but wanted to get confirmation. We're aiming for this to go live tomorrow.

It's all coded up ready to go live this evening, but I'd still like a firm confirmation that the link is correct, to put my mind at ease.
