Due July 3

Per "the new plan" we will need a separate image to promote Thunderclap to our Facebook users.

We're worried about saturating Facebook with the same Firefox OS images (PR announce, country announce, etc.) so we'd like to try something a bit different here.

Since we're asking users to sign up to join Firefox fans around the globe in a simultaneous post, we were thinking maybe we could have a "hands around the world" image. Paper cutout human figures united around the world where the world is the Firefox logo. Example: http://theworldmeditation.com/wp-content/uploads/image/PeopleUnited.gif

Or, we are open to ideas. :)

Let's try to keep copy of the image so no localization needed on the graphic.

Assigning to Lizz so we can get this resourced. Thanks!

Hey Carmen - making sure I understand the new scope of work here so I can determine who we should assign. This new image doesn't cancel out the work in Bug 880498 does it? I am assuming this new image will be integrated into that work (this image will lead to that Thunderclap page from FB). If that's the case, I will assign Lee to keep the designs consistent.

Correct. This image is a new request, that we'll use on Facebook to point to the Thunderclap page. No canceling work! :)

However, we need the image to be a bit different from our existing Thunderclap imagery (the more we repeat images on Facebook, the less engaging they are.)

Pinging, since it's due Wednesday. :) Thanks!
Carmen, to clarify - this is the request for a 403x403 jpg?

yes please - no text if we can do it.
Hi Carmen, it's proven to be a bit difficult matching the 'globe with paper-cutout people" theme to our FirefoxOS brand elements. My fear is coming across very clip-art-y. My recommendation is to keep it pretty close to our normal styles, but use a fresh pose.

Attached image ties into the same energy of our Thunderclap image - this time, the fox is jumping and sharing in the celebration. http://cl.ly/image/1E1S1W2r3C3U

The background/jump image is the same as our Thunderclap promo, but users will not have seen it until now.

If you think that is too similar to the existing TC promo, maybe we can find an alternative photo for the background. LMK what you think.
I chatted about this with Lee earlier and agree that we don't want to stray too far from the FxOS style here for brand consistency reasons. Hopefully the image from comment #7 (or something similar) will work for your needs.

Happy to discuss further of course.
Hey all,

Let me know if we need a call.

Our Facebook page for the next 2 weeks will be saturated with the blue background and the fox. We really think that another Firefox OS graphic will limit the engagement on the post.

Can we think outside of Firefox OS? Can it be a Thundeclap image (the "thought bubble") I don't know, but I really want this post to get high engagement, and I don't think another OS graphic (for the global audience, particularly) is going to do it :/
+1 to Carmen's comment. Our Facebook posts are looking very similar, and we don't want consumers to think this is something they've seen before. If we can somehow incorporate FXOS branding into the image, but make it different, that would be awesome.

I wonder...we could potentially take the banner text for all four languages and incorporate it into an image. Or - still love the idea of people holding hands around a Firefox world of some kind. The concept is really strength in numbers. When we come together, we can make a big splash.

One note - we plan on promoting the content in the Facebook posts ($$), and Facebook has strict policy about text on promoted post images. Text can't be more than 20% of the image.
Got it. Totally get your objectives...I just want to make sure we do so in a way that isn't too far removed from our basic style. Am sure we can find that right balance.

My recommended next step is for Lee, Carmen & Michaela to have a quick vidyo chat to talk through the problem and brainstorm possible solutions. That would be more productive than going back & forth on bugzilla.

Sound good?
Carmen, Michaela, can you share the copy is associated with this image?
I'd prefer no graphic text at all - localization issues. (The status update text is above)

But I sent out a meeting invite - hoping we call all meet at that time.
Michaela and Carmen - thanks for the call today. I started with the holding-the-globe photo as a base, and embellished it with "global celebrations" in the shape of the ThunderClap caption bubble... HOpe this hits all of our themes/goals! LMK what you think!

FFxOS Facebook Thunderclap 403x403 - 04

I like it!

Just wondering - does it need a Firefox logo in the corner or something? Not sure what our style for that is now.

But I like it!
I really like it too!
Here's another version with a Firefox OS logo in the lower right corner.

FFxOS Facebook Thunderclap 403x403 - 04b

Awesome - I'm good to go on this if the creative team is! (Lee, is John okay with it? Do we need his feedback to close out?)
Lee has been showing me stuff offline. I'm on board!
Woot! We're done with this one, then! Thanks all for working through this with us.

OK, My apologies for commenting here, but just trying to get the message across:

I was very happy to hear about 'Thunderclap'. However that was short lived as I found out that either Facebook or a Twit account is needed. Please note that you have lost my support as I do not Twit or Face... I am a tech since 1980, I hope Thunderclap will allow 'independent' supporters!

Anthony

Since you're new, just wanted to let you know that these bugs aren't the place for feedback like this. You can always give feedback through the suggestion box, though. http://mzl.la/14AAx4a.

But to answer you - Thunderclap is a third-party, separate from Firefox. We are using Thunderclap as just one of many ways to get the Firefox OS message across, but it is the same message that you can share even if you don't like Facebook or Twitter. Tell your neighbors, your friends, anyone online that will listen.
Thanks! Noted! Good luck on the project. Spreading the word already, hopefully I can (root) my Android phones... have loads (maybe even my WinCEs/ARM)! Will get involved for sure! It is time we had something which was NOT TIED DOWN to a Corporation or platform (e.g. Email) and an 'App Store' (and in Canada to the big two)! I have stopped using Cell phones in Canada for now (this is from a guy who is a GSM consultant). Can't wait for Forefox OS - hopefully not tied down to a particular App-Store and Email Service. Next stage... a multi/open-rf phone so that users in Canada (and elsewhere) can switch networks freely!
You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
