File->Import->Mail->Outlook: When import wizard encounters mail message with cyrillic characters in it it pops up "The message you composed contains characters not found in the selected Character Coding, so your message may become unreadable after you send it. To send it anyway, Click OK. To return to the Composer window where you can choose a different Character Coding, click Cancel" If I click Cancel, supposedly to get a chance to specify encoding, import wizard just gets stuck with no progress until I cancel it. If I click OK (for all such messages) Import wizard eventually completes. The problem in this case is that koi8-encoded messages' text shows up as garbadge even though message header specifically states "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=koi8-r;". Interestingly enough, Subject which is also koi8- r encoded (Subject: [anekdot-daily] =?koi8-r?B?0sHT09nMy8Egd3d3LmFuZWtkb3QucnU=? =) shows up correctly.

Artem , would you please attach such mail from the Outlook to this bug report so that we could test it. Thanks.
I've attached .pst file with cyrillic messages using koi8-r and cp1251 encodings. Message from @anekdot.ru is the one that gets imported incorrectly. When View->Encoding is set to koi8-r message body shows garbage, but Subject is fine. When I manually set View->Encoding to Cyrillic/Windows (cp1251) then body looks fine but Subject is all wrong. Weirdness continues with two small test messages that were sent using cp1251 and koi8-r encodings. Check message source and compare it with View->Encoding setting. For some reason source always shows that message body is koi8-r encoded (even though, one message is in cp1251). Ah, one more thing. There is no way to tell mozilla from which .pst file to import mail. You'll have to open attached .pst file in outlook, then copy test messages to your normail mail folder and then ask mozilla to import mail from outlook. Because of that, you may see effects that are different from what I observed.
QA contact to marina. Thanks.

Artem, would you please attach the mail again, somehow i can not open the cgi file, could you zip it? And one more thing: the anekdot.ru page is win-1251 page, if you send it as koi8-r then the garbled display of the body is expected.
i created two mails in Outlook Exp with koi8r and cp-1251 and imported them into mozilla. I don't see any display problems with body or headers. Tested under WinXP with 2001-09-10 trunk build

Artem, there is one more thing to keep in mind : the import from Outlook ( i've tried Outlook Express) won't work if you import to IMAP account and if your Outlook is not a default messenger. It should work with POP when this one is setup as your default mailer. Please try this one more time, attach the problematic emails and report here. Thanks.
marina: do we have similar problem on Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. What will happen if we import a EUC-JP mail in Japanese machine ?
Frank, bug #100867 was filed as an answer to your question and was split from this one. Outlook Express doesn't have problem that Outlook does. So CJK mails imported from Outlook have an incorrect body display though the headers are fine. See ji comments in bug report # 100867. Same problem as cyrillic mails reported here.
