I have noticed that text in the search engine field in Nightly renders differently based on how much text you enter:
6 words, rendering looks normal:

If my eyes aren't failing me, I believe the font gets a bit "thinner" as soon as the letters have to scroll to fit in the search box.
FWIW I can reproduce this on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20130624 Firefox/24.0 ID:20130624031040 CSet: 76820c6dff7b
