From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.1+) Gecko/20010630 BuildID: 2001063009 gcc-2.95 Mem + Disk cache switched on (several Mb) Going down above www tree and coming back (and repeating these steps) will ultimately hang browser: status bar shows 'Read ...' with a local cache address and nothing happens. Can only be stopped when hitting the stop button (ESC does not work !). This is maybe related to a flaky network on that site (today) which stops cache mechanism to work: It should retry comparision to remote site if it failed the first time; instead, it apparently gives up forever. I've not seen that on, e.g., mozilla.org. Switching to offline mode does NOT help (?? puzzling...). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Goto above page and click on the left Xerces 1 and deeper 2.Use back button to go back 3.If that works, cycle through the steps several times. Actual Results: Browser hangs with 'Read ...' local cache address and stops browsing. After hitting Stop button, empty page appears. Expected Results: Cached page should load, independent of network state.

Tried newest gcc-2.95 2001070309 today, but it get's worse. Flaky network theory does NOT apply, it also hangs locally on pages which were entered via file:... and are in cache (e.g., locally stored xerces api docs). Loading bar (bottom right) stops typically at 3/4 of it's length (7/8 when trying to 'shift/reload' after a stop). Other pages can be reached still by typing into the URL bar, but sometimes this is also blocked when the error occurs. I noted that the problem also could appear only after clicking a while through local pages. As I saw this specifically for the xerces 1.4.x html documentation, I attached one of the files (caveats.html) which show this effect. It contains javascript, but I usually have this off (turning it on does not help). I have my own html pages (no javascript) which do not show this effect, regardless how often I click through them. From what I've seen the last 3 days, it seems that 0.9.2 has much more user visible problems than 0.9.1...

'Apache specific'-theory also did not apply, but was a more general problem with most local files or directories being cached. This can now be closed, as the symptom disappeared mysteriously with build 2001071509 (so instead of 'fixed' there should be a status 'suddenly disappeared' ;-).
many changed in the Network code. Maybe this is fixed by another bug... marking worksforme

Yes, that one seems to be nearly resolved. I had intermittend problems still, but they dissappear quickly when reloading. I will open a new one if this reappears.
