Re-assigning to Troy Palmer, who's a new copy contractor we have working with us.
Troy, let us know if you have any questions as you get into it.
Holly, when would you like to have the copy wrapped up?

Thanks, Matej. Would early next week be possible? I can meet with Troy over Vidyo this week to run through it.

Troy, any updates on copy for this yet? We're waiting on copy for the iOS page (Bug #883808).

Hi Michael,
I am meeting with Troy in an hour to discuss copy, so after the meeting we should have a good idea of when this week to expect final copy.

Hey Holly (and everyone)
Here's the link to my copy deck. I've given a couple of options for most of the copy requests. Hopefully it's pretty straight forward, but if there are any questions let me know.
Cheers,
Troy

I made one really tiny change (see if you can spot it), otherwise this looks great to me. Thanks, Troy!
Holly, let us know what you think.

Thanks, Troy. The copy looks good!
I only have 2 comments.
Desktop - up to Date:
The link to /mobile is a page that addresses more than Firefox for Android. It probably isn't clear since there is an Android focus at the top, but this page contains content for FirefoxOS and Apps as well. I'd change from "Looking for Firefox for Android?" to something addressing all mobile.
What would you suggest? "Looking for Firefox for mobile?" or "Looking for mobile?" or something else? This is also the case in the link area for iOS users.
Android - not up to date:
I think that we should change our Google Play button copy for these users to be more explicit that they will be going to Google Play Store to update and to not just get a new copy. Let me know if you think otherwise. Would you be ok with "Update on Google Play" (or "Update for free on Google Play" if it fits) instead of "Get it free on..."?
Nick and Mike: once I have these 2 things resolved I will put all copy and links in their respective bugs.

Holly, are you going to make the choice from the copy options in the doc?

Whoops, I think that was the change I made. I think "Looking for mobile" or something similar would be good. The more explicit the better, since we do have several mobile offerings now.

"Get it free on Google Play" is the copy directly from Google (i.e. it's on all their download buttons). Are we comfortable changing that?

Hi Matej,
I was able to find examples of "Get it on Google Play" and "Android App on Google Play". I wasn't able to find one that mentions "free" or any copy rules for the button. From what I can tell that was an addition done by us or maybe something Google used to do. Were you able to find any rules on this or an example of "free" mentioned in their buttons?

Sorry, I wrote my response too quickly. I meant that "get it" and "on Google Play" is their language so I was wondering if it's OK to change that (to "update," for example).
I've wanted to use "from Google Play" for a while now, but we haven't because of their standards.

Ok. I don't want to break their guidelines. If you ever hear that we can diverge a bit and swap "Get it" for "Update" let me know. It would be nice to be a little more specific if we can.
So for now we will stick with "Get it free on Google Play".
Thanks, Matej!

Yes, I'll make the selections from the doc and place them in the individual bugs.

Hi Matej,
I'm reopening this bug because we have one copy update that we would like your guidance on.
For the "Desktop, Not Up-to-date" user (bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=883800) we need to rewrite the top banner message.
This is the basic look of the page: http://cl.ly/image/0c2E061x2w2N
In the top banner, we need a second sentence that will be a link to a SUMO page that describes how silent updates work.
From Laura: "Biggest motivators to upgrade are speed and security. Rewrite to include that motivator."
For instance, it could say something like this: "Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox. Learn how to update to have the most recent, fast, and secure version." - but something more elegant and concise than I can craft :) The call-out to learn, isn't necessary if the user's attention is caught by "fast and secure".
* this is our first step to catch users who already have Firefox from downloading a fresh copy instead of using silent updates. The next step will be to work with Justin Dolke's team to make this page even smarter and know if the user has a silent update installed already and only a restart is necessary. Until that is technically possible, this will be our interim solution.

Sounds good. Here are a couple of options:
"Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox. Get the update for the latest in speed and security."
"Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox. Update to stay fast and safe."

Thanks, Matej. I lean towards the second option. Concise and gets the point across.

This change has been made in the PR. The second option was chosen. See Bug 883800.
