Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130625125232 Steps to reproduce: Log in to gmail with my account. Wait and observe idle CPU use. Compare with Safari and Chrome. Leave gmail tab open but change active tab to a non-gmail tab (such as this one) Actual results: While the gmail tab is active, idle CPU use on my 2.7 GHz Core i7 Macbook Pro hovers steady at 10%. When another tab is selected, idle CPU use falls to <4% In Chrome and Safari, an idle gmail tab uses < 4% CPU. I have reset firefox profile, with only two extensions (a password manager and adblock plus). The other browsers have these extensions as well. gmail chat and notifications are disabled. Expected results: I expect much lower CPU use.
