Using synthetic apks makes life easy for users in that they can use normal Android methods to install/uninstall webapps. It makes it a bit harder for us in that we have to listen to webapp install/uninstall and Allocated webapp index and the app profiles.

Alternatively... it would be really neat if we the synthetci apks could manage the profile directory themselves and we could offset this app profile bit (also, it might make the apps properly report their size in the Android App management...)

Nice! It would also make moving zip files around considerably easier.

However: would it be an unacceptable security hole?
Resolving this incomplete in preparation for filing a different set of bugs to track the work that folks are doing to implement synthetic APKs.
