Steps to reproduce:

Attempting to use GMail "Insert Image" icon (that has always worked before) did not work.


Actual results:

Firefox opened new tab which contained low-ASCII rendition of image, and did not insert the image. The GMail pop-up box noted the upload FAILED. This problem did not occur using IE; the image was inserted. 130707.1104-4


Expected results:

Image should have been embedded in email.

Could you test:
1) in safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

2) with a clean profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

In safe mode the image was properly embedded.

BTW, when I said "low-ASCII rendition" I meant:

Probably add-on issue, just disable them one by one to find the culprit. Resetting your profile can help too.
