User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130618035212 Steps to reproduce: 1. Sign into Gmail account 2. switch tab and windows 3. ask a friend to send you a gTalk. Actual results: New Firefox builds seems to use self notification method (not Growl). While message does gets to be Notification, it has the following error: [JavaScript Application] ReferenceError: closeAlert is not defined. You can't "ignore" the error or the Notification window Expected results: You should be able to get notified without issues and also be able to ignore and hide the notification dialog.

talaviram can you still reproduce this with the newer Firefox versions?
Flags: needinfo?(talaviram)
(In reply to Tiziana Sellitto [:tiziana] from comment #1) The issue still happens with: v24.0 (the latest offered to me). I can reproduce using the following websites: http://www.gmail.com http://www.mightytext.net On both the steps to reproduce are: 1. make sure the website is open in a tab. 2. switch to another tab 3. receive message triggering notification (mightyext -> SMS, gmail -> Google Talk) Result: the javascript error alert is being shown and makes it impossible to use Firefox properly until you quit and reopen it.

talaviram have you ever had this problem before Firefox 22? Could you try if it works in safe mode and with a new profile? In this way we can try to exclude problems related to some extensions or profile data. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Basic+Troubleshooting#w_3-restart-firefox-in-safe-mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
Currently I'm with: v24b3 I didn't have this problem with v22 or below as far as I recall since Gtalk & MightyText used Growl service instead of HTML5 notifications. I've been able to reproduce this with safe mode and a new profile prior to allowing those websites to provide notifications.

This is happening in Firefox 26.0 + Xubuntu 12.04 as well with the kiwiirc client: https://kiwiirc.com/ I'm not sure if this is a related problem but the notifications never go away and there are button on the bottom that are cut off so that you can't read them.
