I suspect there are some icon properties we need to set. I was hoping to not have to install 8.1 yet :)
There's a new whitepaper that should cover it that is supposed to come out any day now.
Confirmed on all Aurora builds, but not Nightly ones. For nightly, it displays the Metro version of the icon, whether or not it is set to default.

Still not fixed on Aurora 25.
Windows 8.1 will be publicly available in 2 months, so it may be a good idea to fix this on v24 as well.

Yes this is pretty bad, I think we should track it and work on it very soon.

The logo of Firefox has been updated to a 'flat' one, and on Win8.1 the Firefox tile is still showing the old one. It would be great if this could be fixed as well.

Please use the Clone this bug feature on the bottom of the page and adjust the subject/body for that new issue. Thanks!

Given win 8.1 will start getting prevalent soon, this will be a good fix for Fx24 to have.
I spoke to bbondy on irc on helping with this and given he's out next week he recommended jimm may be able to help.
Jimm, passing this onto you, feel free to reassign if needed.

Win 8.1 won't be out till October, and we're still waiting to see if they release an rc or rtm for testing purposes early. This shouldn't hold up 24, but should track for 25.

WFM in the latest 8.1 RTM.
Juan, this should probably get verified by someone in QA, curious how I should tag this bug for that?
STT:
1) install aurora
2) on the start screen click the down arrow in the lower left
3) right-click aurora, select pin to start
You should see an auroral icon show up on the start screen that has the icon and app name 'Aurora'.

I tested this on the latest Aurora using a VM running the latest 8.1 available for download from the MS site, (Windows 8.1 Pro Preview 64-bit (6.3, Build 9431).
I followed the steps in comment #12 adding the option for making it the default browser or not. In either case, the list of Apps after clicking on the down arrow shows the right icon and the name of the app, but the pinned icon does not have the name.

This was a bug in preview, it was fixed in RTM. Asa, can you verify with an RTM?

I see the "Nightly" name in the 8.1 RTM with yesterday's nightly build.
