On my nexus 4. go to http://www.cbc.ca/player/Shows/Shows/Coronation+Street/ID/2392219625/

It (now) starts off with a quick ad. Then the first few mins of corrie plays. When it hits the first set of adds, the screen turns off. I press the side button and the device wakes up and continues where it left off.

It happened consistently a week ago, now it happens about 50% of the time (so something between the two betas?). When it gets to the second or third ad breaks, it remains 'on'.
If this is flash, I think they do their own screen wake locks. Snorp, is that right?

fwiw, it's new behaviour - over the last week or so. I used to be able to watch without any screen 'sleeps'. (in fact on my mobile, it skipped all the ads before and it's when the ads started appearing to me that this started happening)
Flash does its own wakelock stuff or asks us to do it, depending on the Android version. I think what's happening here is the ads do not make Flash hold a wakelock. So if the screen has been on for a while and you hit an ad, it removes the wakelock and the screen sleeps. Unsure what we can really do here to make this better.

so is this new behavior from the website? or new behavior from Fennec? (testing with a nightly from a couple weeks ago would tell us that)
need info for the question in comment 6

On nightly fx 25 2013-07-31, the screen now *doesn't* go blank when hitting the first commercial. In fact, it goes back to some early behaviour where it doesn't play the commercials at all (which is brilliant, in my opinion).

So: do you still want me to go back to other releases?

Also: there are a whole host of other issues when playing video on this nightly version. Shall I file separate bugs or are they already known? Happy to file away if needed.
