When receiving a MMS with unknown format attachment to FxOS, there is no any indicator in message thread to show the attachment is unsupported. There is only an empty message received and shown in the thread. Please refer to screenshot in attached file.

* Build Number (Both Gecko and Gaia)
Gaia:     1436e2778b90bd74635b0b94d1cf8ccb0d71b60c
  B-D     2013-06-25 17:04:16
Gecko:    http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-b2g18/rev/29933d1937db
BuildID   20130625070217
Version   18.0

* Reproduce Steps
1. Send a .vcs file from another device to DUT.
2. Message can be received, but after open it, only a yellow frame message but nothing inside indicating any attachment icon or unsupported information.

* Expected Result
1. A message shows that the attachment is not supported.
2. (Option, depends on design) There should still have way to save the attachment.

* Actual Result
This one sounds a Gaia issue. However, Gecko would probably need to return info regarding the decoding capability somewhere else. Anyway, this bug might not block shipping since the user can still get a (fine but not perfect) notification with an empty prompt.

                ^^^^^^ Not a prompt. I mean an empty message.
I think this is related to bug 875408, which is about displaying other file types. ni? Kaze for further information

I remember I did not succeed in sending unsupported attachments when I wrote this patch, see bug 875408 comment 13 — I had to fake a message to see the expected placeholder. I wouldn’t bet that it’s related but I can’t be sure, as I still can’t reproduce this bug…

I have a few cycles to work on this if it helps, I’ll just need someone to send me an MMS message with a non-image/audio/video attachment. My phone number is in the Mozilla phonebook. ;-)

Hi Kaze,

I cannot send you the message since we are in different countries but you may try to send an appointment(.vcs) from an Android phone to your device. Hope you can find the solution.
Taking to keep this bug on my radar, but everyone is welcome to steal it.

see bug 925224.

for .vcs the partners expect that we show the raw text.

We should do this already since it's a text/* attachment. However it seems it's not working all the time.

I'd say the bugs are dupe, and I'd like to dupe this one to bug 925224 because I flagged Ayman there. Does that sound good ?
