(this may actually belong in MakeAPI, or require a bug in both Thimble and Popcorn Maker (god I hope not) if so, feel free to move it)

From bug 889514 comment 6 :

Can you please change this to:
_gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'makes.org']);

We don't have a bulk already-published-updater. This is going to be neigh-impossible without writing that first, so it might be worth finally visiting the bulk-update tickets, blocking this one on them.
I don't mind decoupling, even if it means we're losing out on a swath of data, but if it can all be done at once, so much the better!

After some testing and experimentation with Google Analytics, we'll need to do the following:

* set the domain to ".makes.org" so all the subdomains are tracked together
* setAllowLinker on makes.org
* use the _link on all links on webmaker.org that lead to makes.org: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/methods/gaJSApiDomainDirectory#_gat.GA_Tracker_._link

I will not get this done this week.

Can I get an updated ETA? This was slated for last week as a P1 ...

All of our current published projects will need to be republished to get the new code, but I feel it'd be better to just get make details working with the make valet, which will actually make this change possible...

Okay, looks like Google has rolled out a new version of Analytics that'll make this much easier. Rather than having to update every. single. link. on all of our sites as described by https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/gaTrackingSite#multipleDomains we can use the far more awesome strategy of updating our ga snippet: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/upgrade/reference/gajs-analyticsjs#cross-domain

I spoke to Gareth today about upgrading to Universal Analytics. It's possible to upgrade our sites to Universal without affecting other Mozilla sites on the account. We'll need to wait until that's done though.
