When selecting and deleting several messages at a time in the thread pane, the
last message in the folder is selected in the thread pane and the displayed in
the message body pane.
Reporter what build Id are you using? Have you tried using the latest nightlies
does that fix the problem?

90569 was resolved as a duplicate of this, but I'm not sure that it's really the
same. Possibly the code to fix them is the same, but the behavior is definitely
different. Summary of 90569:
if you have most recent messages (by date) sorted at top, and you hit
delete on your keybard, it moves the hilight down, which is really
the wrong way to go - it should go to the next unread message, which
 would be up.
 1. sort your messages by date
 2. hit date again to sort most recent at top
 3. delete a msg to see hilite go down instead of up

This really seems like a different bug to me, so I'm not sure why it got
marked as duplicate.

Also, both reported problems happen on the Macintosh also, so the platform/OS
fields can be changed to be more generic.

This seems to be fixed in 2001080110 on Win98 (Moz 0.9.3 release).
Should it be closed?
I'm still seeing this behaviour on 2001082910 on SPARC, Solaris 8.

It's v. irritating...
Nope, not fixed. It's back from the dead (2001091303 WinME).

Reply to #6:

I too suffer from this bug. It is VERY ANNOYING. And the other bug you mention.
I order my mail in decending date order (ie, newest mail at the top). And I'm
getting real sick of moving the cursor up 2 messages everytime i delete a read
message. The direction the highlight cursor moves should depend on the date
field sort order.

One day, Moz will be perfect. One day. I have faith in the Moz developers.
Nominating for 0.9.8 and nominating for catfood nomination =)
It certainly is annoying. Especially if the newly selected message was a spam
message with a funny 1x1px image in it...
