This works for me under Mac/2001071903.
The HTML is rather bizarre. It appears to have been generated by FrontPage (explanation
enough in and of itself) which has constructed the Shockwave Flash elements as follows:
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://
download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0"
width="329" height="230" name="Homeani">
<param name="movie" value="homeimages/main.swf">
<param name="quality" value=high>
<embed src="homeimages/main.swf" quality=high pluginspage="http://
www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=
ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="329" height="230" name=
"Homeani">
<noembed>
<img src="homeimages/homeani1.jpg" width="329" height="230">
</noembed>
</embed>
</object>
So, it seems to have used the OBJECT element not as a method of embedding the SWF
file, but rather to indicate some sort of bizarre version information for the nested
EMBED. (It bears mentioning that EMBED is part of no actual HTML DTD.)
In the minimal testcase attached, a perfectly legal HTML 4 document includes an OBJECT
element to embed one of Monica's SWF files, and it works also in the aforementioned
Moz build.
