895980 - Sharing Feature Lineups: Weekly Email + Roundup Post

Now that we see Feature Lineup model working on Webmaker, need to build process for notifying/sharing these with community.

Will liase with Comms team each week to get makes in their messaging, but would be good to have further ways to reach out to community. 

Suggest, for each Feature Lineup:

a) Sending quick "you've been featured!" email to each maker, with a tweet scrap they can use to share their work with others;
b) Publish blog post/roundup called "Best Makes of the Week" etc, in style of this: http://zeega.com/151281 - to be re-shared on Tumblr and other Webmaker mediums.

Any other ideas?

* New Feature Lineup goes out
* I create post on Webmaker Tumblr called "Featured Makes of the Week" with nice screenshot of 12 features and details on each
* I send email to each feature's maker, with tweet-scrap so they can share around the Web

Each Tuesday, 
* I present "Featured Makes of the Week" on Webmaker Community Call 

This way, makers get a bunch of love and are enticed to make even more awesome projects :) 


Rebeccah, Erika, Erica, Matt, would be great to get your feedback on this. Does it sound right to you?

Kat - a process point on this is that as our tumblr is currently a 'primary blog' meaning that we'll have to either:

a) share log in access for posting

or

b) I Follow the Webmaker V2 tumblr (http://webmakerv2.tumblr.com) and reblog your posts from there. 

I think either is fine, but would like to keep log-in access on a pretty tight leash wherever posible. :)

Thanks guys, glad you like the idea!

Rebeccah, given the remit of the main Webmaker Tumblr (ie to showcase the best stuff people are making) versus the V2 Tumblr (ie to showcase the dev side of things) I'm thinking it would be best for me to use the main blog. 

Happy to have a session with you re: logins and tone for the blog first, though!

Update on process for this, after conversation with Rebeccah: 

* Friday: Kat to submits post to Webmaker blog with week theme thank you to makers, context on makes and screenshot of makes for that week  
* Monday: Comms team reviews/ publishes to Webmaker blog for Tues morning publish
* Tuesday: Rebeccah re-shares excerpt on Tumblr blog and Kat uses main Webmaker blog URL to do public shout-out to makers on Community Call

Erica, confirm whether this works for you? If so, we'll move full steam ahead ;)

I originally wanted to put this directly in the MakeAPI editor, but as cade pointed out, it'd be far too easy to accidently send the email multiple times if an edit was made to change any other field, like the title or description.

This should really live on webmaker.org, in the editorial control page.

* Hey Kat: what do you think about doing a "back to school" theme for week of Sep 3? Could be a mix of serious stuff (adding new teaching kits) + playful stuff. Like riffing on Breakfast Club style memes, doodling on your notebook, locker grafiti, etc.

Matt: Love it. In the roster. Some of the makes for the next week will be around Campus Party theme, but if there are others related that folks want to share (same week - Sept 2) this would tie in well also.

Love it! I could see pushing a week to not overlap with Campus Party...Back to School can run anytime in Sept IMO
