On some websites, I see as little as 4 letters (see attachment).

I think we can reduce the margins of the favicon and close button.

Bug 658467 was the way we were hoping to make this a bit better, but is unlikely to make Australis (also needs platform support). Note that release Firefox will already get down to 4-5 letters for the title. Just isn't a great solution here -- either you force giant tabs with plenty of space, or you have few letters to work with.

Shoving the icon/button to the edge would look weird visually, too.
