From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.2) Gecko/20010628
BuildID: 2001062815

Enter a long string in the URL Bar. When the length of the string exceeds 1800
characters or so, the text is not rendered properly some of the time. The
problem becomes more and more pronounced as the length of text entered increases.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ and type some text where it says "Enter a
bug #...". Now click Show.

2. The results of your search will display after a short while.

1a. ALTERNATIVELY, start typing in text in the URL Bar. Enter at least 2000
characters.

Actual Results: Note that the text in the URL Bar (or address bar) is rendered
wrongly. If you follow Step 1a, note that the "Search with.." widget that
appears when you are typing in the URL Bar also shows this problem.

Expected Results: The text should not have been "scrunched together" as it is
happening now.
prasenjeetd@yahoo.com, does the problem you're seeing involve different portions
of the url drawn on top of each other?

If so, this is a duplicate -- I'll have to track down the number, though.
tingley, yes, it does seem as if portions of the URL are being drawn on top of
existing characters. Also, if you highlight the incorrectly rendered text, the
highlighted portion renders correctly.(see this image:
http://www.geocities.com/prasenjeetd/mozbug1/shot3.png) But this happens only
when the length of the URL exceeds a certain value.
Gah, I was so sure I'd seen this submitted before, but I can't find it anywhere.
Maybe I imagined the whole thing. Marking NEW.

Attached file 2069-character URL
This appears `scrunched' in the Mozilla address bar on Win2000 systems (but not
on Win2000 SP2 systems).
For Joe Hewitt: did you try this on a Windows 2000 SP1 or pre-SP1 system?
I repeated this today on two builds:

I'm attaching a text file here with a 2069-character URL.

0.9.7, on a Windows 2000 Professional + SP2 + SRP1. No problems in Mozilla. Nor
while opening this file in Notepad or the URL in IE's address bar.

1.0RC1, on an unpatched Windows 2000 Professional. Notepad (with word wrap off)
and IE *do show* the same problem, which leads me to suspect this to be an OS
problem.

Should probably mark down as a OS bug and move on. Does this sound okay?
