Hey Erika: I made two makes using the new template. Will have to delete and do them again, once the templates are finished, but this was the easy way to make sure I had all the content. The templates were using both content AND comments to help the user along. I've nearly eliminated the comments, the ones that are left are only HTML help, the template help is now on the page. These are ready for copy editing. https://laura.makes.org/thimble/teaching-kit-template https://laura.makes.org/thimble/activity-template

Also, Erika - any chance you do these two pages today? This blocks bug 891546 and we're trying to ship the kit template by Monday.

Darn it. Didn't get to this today. Will try and put in a few hours over the weekend so it's ready by Monday.

Alright, copy editing is done :) Teaching Kit: https://mofocomms.etherpad.mozilla.org/teaching-kit-template-copy Activity Kit: https://mofocomms.etherpad.mozilla.org/activity-template-copy A few notes: - I mostly edited for clarity and conciseness - I put specifics from the Web Lit Standard into the teaching kit - I used a lot of similar language in both kits, so it's clear they are connected. - both kits need a couple lines from Laura - I was unclear in a few areas and marked them in the pads in square brackets I also updated the google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqADs_jMQ8jPdGFTbnBNTkxwdEJEN2wxcmY1TWY2MWc#gid=0

Erika - You shouldn't have done this on the weekend! Geez! Teaching kit text looks great. On the teaching kit copy, I deleted what you had crossed out, and expanded where you had questions (lines 44, 57, 58). The activity template text, we should talk about: On lines 83 - 85 of teaching kit pad, and line 11 of the Activity pad, you use "introductory", "explanatory" and "exploratory" to note the different activity types. I think it's necessary to explain this concept (lines 23-27 of the activity text, line 81 of the teaching kit text), but I don't think we should reiterate it in the intro text for the activities (line 11) and the example intro (line 19). Maybe we should arrange a meeting for this one. Can you ping me when you're up? And we can schedule something on the fly?

* Great work on this guys. I'm going to take quick a pass on these now. * Laura's comment about trying to move away from overly long code comments is key. Want to respect that. * @ Laura: I have a proposal on that that I'd like to bounce off you. Will follow up.

@Matt - made this w/ your new copy: https://mozteach.makes.org/thimble/teaching-kit-template Check out line 24 here: https://mofocomms.etherpad.mozilla.org/activity-template-copy mainly, if we're separating the pedagogy stuff out from these two templates, we should include a link in the side bar that says something like "Best Practices for making a truly kick ass Teaching Kit" or whatever we say. Need to make sure that is in the template built in Bug 891546

* +1 to including a link in the sidebar. will create a placeholder for that in my remix, then pass to Cassie for optimizing / design review. * Working on some updated copy now, remixing Laura's link above: https://mozteach.makes.org/thimble/teaching-kit-template
