In the UAT there was some discussion about the intentional removal of the sign in link. Using this bug so we can get clear guidance on what to implement.

Note we might be able to resolve quicker in irc.

== Options ==
1.
Add Text To Gallery Page
"Start voting by clicking on your favorite videos or [sign in] to view your votes"

2.
Add Globaly
"[sign in] to view your votes"

I prefer option #1. Option #2 is a direct call to action.
1. Sign in
2. We will then show you your votes

This implies, we redirect to the 'my votes' page which would only contain content if you have already registered and voted.

If we don't redirect the page just refreshes, which is also weird.

The thing I find strange about option #1 is that it forces returning visitors to get to the gallery page to even find out about ways to access their votes, which is not what I would expect. This said, I don't feel too strongly about this and could be convinced either way. Both solutions have benefits. If am happy to go for #1 if it's easier.

I'm no IRC if you want to discuss.

Just a note, we also have buttons similar to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Persona/branding?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=persona%2Fbranding (without the arrow at the right side) that we can put in the same place that Sign Out appears when you're logged in.

The buttons are included in the library we use for Persona auth, so using those buttons doesn't require any extra frontend work.

Asking for Holly's feedback on this one.

In case there was any confusion with my feedback in the etherpad, I had suggested adding a sign-in CTA on the gallery page (not globally) to this message: http://cl.ly/image/3R1J1e1F0I3T
- "Start voting by clicking on your favorite videos or [sign in] to view your votes." Not everyone has votes to access and placing additional messaging next to a sign-in CTA, globally, would require a bit more space than we can afford in the navigation area.

The original reason to hold off on having the user sign-in and not promoting it on the homepage is that there is no immediate benefit to signing in. Persona sign-in is also new to a lot of users and could be considered a barrier that we don't want to promote until the user saw a need (like voting or submitting a video) before going through this sign-in process.
