(To readers: the video does not contain any information not in the bug already.)

Are you using private browsing mode?  That is, in the Options window, on the Privacy pane, what is the value of "Nightly will:"?  If Firefox forgets history on shutdown, it cannot restore the session (bug 398817).


Suggestions on the screenshot and the video you've made:
* You can copy the list of modified about:config preferences using buttons at about:support (also available through Help → Troubleshooting Information).
* When you make a screenshot, it is better to use the PNG format, which is lossless unlike JPEG.
* There are programs to make screencasts (video recordings of screen), for example the VLC media player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/  It is best to use here a file format that Firefox can play, that is WebM with VP8 codec or Ogg with Theora codec.

Did you see the upper left conrner of FF in the video? That's orange so not in Private mode.
The video mainly showed even "Show my windows and tabs from last time" was selected, FF did not save and show my windows and tabs from last time. It just warned me multiple tabs were opened but no "Save and exit" window appeared.

Hi, if you select "Show my windows and tabs from last time" (=save session on quit) you won't see the "Save and Quit" message, only with the setting "Show my home page" or "Show a blank page".

does it reproduce with current nightly in safe mode?
