We aren't taking full advantage of the benefits of having a Google Plus account because we haven't verified our account. Steps to verify: 1. Fill out the G+ page verification form here (https://support.google.com/plus/contact/page_verification?hl=en&rd=2) 2. Add an anchor tag to mozilla.org (more detail here - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1708844)

The only way we can link the two is providing a real link to Google+. The only place this would make sense is in the footer where we have Facebook and Twitter. It would be pretty easy to add Google+, but what is there to do on the Firefox Google+ website? I don't think our social media team maintains a presence there. Adding a link to something that provides no additional value doesn't seem like a good idea. Michaela: Can you let us know if Google+ is a social media website that we post recent content to and promote?

@Chris - It looks like the Google Plus account is active. There are also SEO benefits of linking our account since a sidebar would appear for certain Mozilla/Firefox related queries (search 'Google Chrome' for an example).

You can't see it if you are using a @mozilla.com email because Google+ is disabled on our Google Apps enterprise account. I tested it with my personal one.

Good morning all! Mozilla's Google+ account is an awesome, active community-run account. The question as to whether or not we should add it to the Moz.org footer has come up in the past. I don’t recommend moving forward for the reasons below: 1. There are literally thousands of other Mozilla community-managed channels and we shouldn’t give preference to one over another. 2. The Google+ account is not one of the channels we have resources to fully manage (nor do we wish to at this time as it serves a great purpose as a community-run account). So, content isn’t vetted by partners and other stakeholders before it is posted on Google+ (as it is with other social media networks), and there aren’t people monitoring the account for potential crises round the clock (as there are with other social media networks). It is actually a risk to link to it as an official account for these reasons. I hope that this is helpful! Michaela

Hi Folks -- GSI is working to assess the business case of supporting Google + on our site. We understand that doing so will take resources. What that ROI will be, due to that potential added boost to search, is what we need to get a better idea of, and that's the focus now. Stay tuned. Once that's made more clear, let's discuss.

Laura: Does GSI need Google+ verified to assess the potential impact or can they do it without any further action on Mozilla's part?

All: We are going to pause any activity on this until an ROI analysis can be done. We can reopen this later if needed.
