The download window gives me too much feedback. It's just confusing, and more
than I need.

To simplify it, I suggest remove the Elapsed Time row and possibly the Saving
From row.

The "Saving From" is rather useful to grab an url for a download manager (like
getright or gtm) when downloads are not started by clicking on a link (try to
download sun's jdk for an example) or redirected by a cgi

I like all of the fields that are available.. when I first saw the new 
additions I was very pleased because previous versions did not have all of the 
info that I wanted.  Recommend WONTFIX/INVALID.  Or maybe a checkbox for 
more/less info.  Too much info is a good thing.  Not enough is bad.

Too much info is not a good thing, it makes a dialog/app less usable and also
makes it look harder than it have to be.

I doubt the majority of our users care about Elapsed Time.

Maybe there could be a button or something to switch between simple and advanced
details. I'm sure one of MPT's ASCII-art masterpieces showed an option like this.

Whatever happens, I don't want any of the current options removed. I love having
all the information -- the more the better.

IF we want a simplified window with a disclosure widget for the more detail
information, then that should be a persistent setting.

proposed Download Manager (bug 102477).

How can a line saying where the file you're download is be confusing?

I wouldn't want to fix it in the least.

I think that anyone who wants a compact UI can use the download manager.
