User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130704223137 Steps to reproduce: Hello. This is not a bug strictly talking —I think— but a suggestion. I have some bookmarks related to both Mozilla Firefox & Mozilla Thunderbird's "Final" & "Beta" releases and I've noted their structure simply don't match, which makes it tricky to have saved a correct bookmark. ■Mozilla Firefox "Final" release notes: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/notes When you click on that link, it takes you automatically to the current "Final" release. Right now, that URL redirects to this one: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/23.0/releasenotes/ However, it all ends here, since Firefox "Beta" release notes link is http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/notes/ but there's no handy link to save that URL, which now redirects to: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/23.0beta/releasenotes/ and will redirect to every new Beta's release notes. Actual results: Nonetheless it's even worse the Thunderbird case — It seems there's not a generic, "redirectable" link worth saving. ■Mozilla Thunderbird "Final" release notes —not "redirectable"—: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/17.0.8/releasenotes/ But you might not want to bookmark that URL because it'll be useless when a new "Final" release be out. Something similar happens with the Thunderbird "Beta" release notes link, which now is: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/23.0beta/releasenotes/ But, again, it will old very soon, useless. Expected results: I expected these stable URLs to bookmark: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/notes » WORKS! http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/notes/ » WORKS! http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/notes » 404 http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/beta/notes/ » 404

Never knew FF had this, not even sure it gets advertised anywhere. I'd be quite happy to do this, but I'd really want this automated in some fashion - the Firefox method just adds yet another place to forget to update: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/.htaccess?r1=118553&r2=118554 Sancus - is there any way we could formulate these redirects off the product-details files? Does this change with the shift to the newer bedrock website base?
See Bug 736934 :)
